The Counihan Connection follows five famous Australian artists as they create artworks inspired by Noel Counihan for an Exhibition at the "Counihan in Brunswick Gallery".
The contemporary artists include the charcoal artist William Kelly (recent works include a commission by the town of Guernica), the filmmaker / painter George Gittoes (awarded an Order of Australia, AM, in 1997) the glass artist Kristin McFarlane (creates the Australian of the Year awards), the linocut artist Angela Cavalieri (recent winner of the Geelong Acquisitive Print Award) and the street artist Satta Van Daal (instigator of the Stencil Festival).
The artists talk about Noel Counihan's legacy, about their own art, and about how art, politics and contemporary Australian life intersect in their work.
Footage from the project will be used to create a radio feature, a DVD aimed at senior secondary and tertiary students, and a broadcast quality documentary. The observational footage for this project is currently being filmed.
